Supa Pirate Booty Hunt is the creation of Dahveed from Smorgasboard Productions & Steve Sievers from Level 27 Media. The hit webseries follows the hilarious adventures of Captain Zack Stevers and his sidekick Daniel the turtle as they travel the seven seas in search of what else…booty! Viewers everywhere have laughed at the pirate’s failed pick-up lines and eternal determination to find love in their animated webisodes.
Creators have built up a following by promoting at conventions, film festivals, panels, after parties, concerts, nightclubs, social media and even their own cosplay. The series has an international fan base that celebrates the series with fan art, music, and even with Supa Pirate Booty Hunt tattoos!
Their fan base caught the attention of the non-profit Music Saves Lives. An organization that encourages young adults to donate blood though the power of music & entertainment. So far the charity has collected over 1 million units of blood in the past 10 years. Supa Pirate Booty Hunt is now proudly working for Music Saves Lives and is producing animated PSA episodes & comic books. Each one pairing Zack & Daniel the Turtle up with a different celebrity to help spread this life saving message.
The first episode “Nurse Boobies Please” featured Nat & Sean from the band 3OH!3 and took home six awards at the Burbank International Film Festival. The award winning animation was turned into a Comic Book with 10,000 printed and distributed on every date of the Vans Warped Tour, San Diego comic-con (including panel), & blood centers through out the country.
The chain Tilly’s featured the first page of the comic in their fall catalog with 2.5 million disturbed. In December 2011, a 30-second spots of “Nurse Boobies Please” played for a month on TV screens nationwide at Denny’s restaurants. Their second PSA episode “Metal in My Shell” guest stars Dave Mustaine of Megadeth and VJ for the nationally syndicated metal radio show, Full Metal Jackie. Cpt Zack Stevers & Daniel the Turtle take on Dave Mustaine in a rock off that warps time & space. The animation was also turned into a comic book for Music Saves Lives.
Their third PSA was a motion comic book that guest starred voice over legend Tom Kenny (voice of SpongeBob SquarePants, Ice King in Adventuretime) and actress Tania Gunadi (Fox’s Enlisted, Transformers Prime) With an actually comic book published and given out at 2014 Vans Warped Tour, SDCC booth & after party, and at their release party at Golden Apple Comics.
