SPBH @ Hollyshorts Film Festival

The Hollyshorts Film Festival was this past week at the world famous TCL Chinese Theatres in downtown Hollywood. On the opening night featured the film The Sidekick in which Supa Pirate Booty Hunt co-creator & voice of Daniel the Turtle (Steve Sievers) starred in it in which he is wearing his Daniel the Turtle costume. The film stars Rob Benedict (Supernatural), Ron Livingston (Office Space), and Jason Ritter (Freddy VS Jason). Rob Benedict also wrote the film and was at the screening at Hollyshorts Film Festival. In the film Steve comes out of Super Nightclub in his Daniel the Turtle costume with the camera starting on him. Steve caught up with Rob at the event in which he said “you are that shot [Steve] that shot is all about you man. It was [costume] the only one that really worked. SPBH @ Pop Con LA

Supa Pirate Booty Hunt is an official selection of the 2012 iTV Festival and is up for best animation. This year, iTV Fest has expanded into a Pop Culture convention called Pop Con LA. Supa Pirate Booty Hunt is having a booth at the convention and animation will screen during the animation block on Sunday July 8 at 11 AM. Also, SPBH creators will be speakers on the indie animation panel at noon tomorrow. iTV Fest/Pop Con LA is happening at the Los Angeles Convention Center today & tomorrow. New Media Film Festival (SPBH Official Selection)

Last night was the opening night for the New Media Film Festival that took place at the Landmark Theater in Los Angeles. SPBH co-creator & voice actor Steve Sievers was on hand to walk the red carpet (see pic above). Supa Pirate Booty Hunt latest animated episode ‘Metal in My Shell’ featuring Dave Mustaine of Megadeth and produced as an animated PSA for the charity Music Saves Lives plays today at 12:30 PM. The animation is an official selection and is up for best socially responsible film award.

SPBH @ Sundance

SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL! Thats right, Supa Pirate Booty Hunt animation will be played at Debbie Durkin’s ECO HIDEAWAY Music Saves Lives Lounge happening Jan 21 – 23 at Stein Eriksen Lodge in Park City,Utah. This is a private event for celebrities, VIPs, and Press only attending Sundance Film Festival. Episode “Nurse Boobies Please” featuring the band 3OH!3, sneak peak of new SPBH animation “Metal in My Shell” featuring Dave Mustaine of Megadeth, and a video of SPBH creators Steve Sievers & Dahveed along with voice of Cpt Zack Stevers (Spike Spencer), and Music Saves Lives director Russel Hornbeck on the red carpet of the 2011 Burbank International Film Festival with all SIX awards SPBH/MSL took home at the festival. All three video & animations will be played on loop everyday on three TV’s at the lounge. SPBH/MSL Comic books will be given out to all guest at the event.

Supa Pirate Booty Hunt creators Steve Sievers & Dahveed were guest at the 6TH ANNUAL FOCUS ON FEMALE DIRECTORS last night in Hollywood at the Egyptian Theatre. Dahveed & Steve Sievers were animators on the short film “Sule and the Case of the Tiny Sparks,” which was produced by Dahveed’s company Smorgasbord Production. Above is pic of the Sule crew including Shawneé & Shawnelle Gibbs, voice actors, artist, & others who worked on the film. Actress Kirsten Dunst was in attendance of the film festival.

This shorts program celebrates the directorial work of actresses-turned-directors, Oscar winners, emerging filmmakers, experimental artists, documentarians, animators, and cinema pioneers. Featured shorts: Kirsten Dunst’s “Bastard” (2010, USA, 6 mins). A young couple in crisis find their way to a desert motel & more including Shawneé & Shawnelle Gibbs’ “Sule and the Case of the Tiny Sparks” (2010, 11 min, USA) which Dahveed & Steve Sievers were animators on the project. The film festival is taking place at the world famous Egyptian Theatre located at 6712 Hollywood Blvd Los Angeles, CA on Wednesday January 5th from 7:30 – 10:30 PM.
